Malaysian Airlines? Bah~!

This is why Malaysia doesn't develop as fast as it should. Investing on the wrong items, and heading the wrong way. News from Utusan Malaysia

Source: fongymmu@yahoo.com
Pembelian tiga buah lukisan bernilai RM1.55 juta untuk menghiasi pejabat Pengerusi Malaysia Airlines System Berhad (MAS) merupakan perbelanjaan semasa, bertujuan menjaga taraf premis tersebut. <----- this is why Airasia can let everyone flies, but MAS itself is going to die!!<--- how nice. AirAsia is busying capturing market share and MAS is busying to decorate their 'premise'. I guess this is the difference between 'Market leader' and 'minor market player'... forget to congratulates MAS for the beautiful painting.

Oh well...Wawasan 2020 huh. :)

Farewell SCNg and Mat

These two people have helped me understand the working world a lot. Too bad they are going to leave soon. KSTan (our supervisor) treat them with a simple farewell lunch at Pizza Hut, Sg Dua. Obviously I went with my Nikki, which has to stay inside the car for the rest of the day because he's not allowed to go into the factory building.

From Left: KSTan, SCNg and Mat.

"Thanks for shining my internship wif a ray,
Glad to know you as my friend;

Marriage and Divorce

Irene is working as a contractor for the past few months, and I don't find her job worthy for a talented programmer like her. She was always complaining about how bored she is at work, and that she was playing online games most of the time and today even shop for PDA phones online. But she just got a verbal agreement for a job in intel as a application developer last week, But she's still waiting for the offer letter, before which she receives the letter, I ask her not to overjoy yet.

Here's an extract of a conversation we have today. You find my conversation twisting? Well, at least there's one Phaik Kuan who always get blurred when I talk. Well, this is how I normally communicate. So if you see me talk this way some other time, do understand it's not on purpose.
I.R.E.N.E says:
one thing E680i better than A1000 is that E is using a better processor
I.R.E.N.E says:
which is Intel XScale :P
Nesohu: says:
hanar, intel processor lah
Nesohu: says:
aih~not yet married already side intel
Nesohu: says:
this gal... -_-"
I.R.E.N.E says:
just waiting for the marriage certificate only mar
Nesohu: says:
........ @_@"

-------

I.R.E.N.E says:
XXX (contract company) oso quite concern about that u know
I.R.E.N.E says:
cos they waiting for my divorce letter mar
I.R.E.N.E says:
luckily after divorce i no need to pay them back
I.R.E.N.E says:
if normal divorce then cham liao lor
I.R.E.N.E says:
have to pay to the other party, since i am the one asking for divorce

Do you find it irritating communicating this way? I find it entertaining to a certain degree. Thank god my other half knows how to talk wif me this way.

How High can a person's ego be?

Why are people so egoistic in nature? I was trying to help up a gal who was struggling to fit 6 pieces of images into Microsoft Word. But she insisted that she can manage it herself. In actual fact, she was just trying so hard by trail n error to fit things into the place. Back when I'm in campus, I always assume that everyone knows how to use the basics of MSWords, at least how to separate the page into columms, how to use the rulers, and how to know how much space we have.

Being a teacher in heart, I always wanted to help people finish their tasks fast. What's the purpose of hiring a person just to copy and paste photos into MSWords which takes her 2 weeks just to do that? She has been dragging and pulling the image till a very obvious distortion (smth no one wants in an image ). Oh well, photographers out there~! Please! Please! Please! educate the people all around you how to perfect their images. The world is beautiful, leave it that way.

RM78 of towels!

Towels are something we use everyday but hardly shop for it (at least not for guys ). Even when we get towels, the most just buy a set of four for the family. Who will ever think of getting RM78 worth of towels ?!

Dad just came back from Seberang Prai, where there's one factory manufacturing towels for companies like Genting, Carl's and Schwarzkoph. They sell those towels away for RM23 per kilo. That's cheap right? But not a good excuse to get 3 kilos at the same time i believe. Oh well, what's done is done.

Save yourself from a computer crash landing

This is an article everyone should read about. How frequent do you hear people get frustrated because they forgets to backup their data? Well, I've faced this type of problem before when I was working with my old Toshiba laptop a couple of years ago. But that's because memory is still expensive, and I don't have a media burner that comes with the device. [ The Boston Globe - Save yourself from a computer crash landing ]

There's a PC Fair this weekend. I was thinking about getting another 120GB harddisc so that I can run a RAID 0 on it ( which obviously I don't know how to) so that all my precious photos will be stored properly. I doubt that the DVD that i bought can last for 10~12 years, but for the safe side, I burn 2 copies of my more important documents. And most of my media are stored inside an Eureka drybox. Well, that might prevent moisture from damaging my DVDs.

Here's the thing, consider this as buying an insurance to your valueables. If you can afford to pay RM3000 for a camera, can't you just pay an extra fraction of the money to make sure your camera is kept safe? Well, I do. Consider how much time you spent letting your computer switched on, and letting your harddisk spin 24/7 does reduce the lifespan of a harddisk. That's why usually I limit my BitComet download/upload speed to 30kb/s if i'm leaving my computer overnight.

Do give me feedback about how you store your collections. I'll love to know till what extent does a person go to keep their precious collections. Or they prefer to ignore it, and cry over spilt milk afterwards.

Goodbye Grandpa

Received a call from mom this morning around 0930 hours informing me that my grandpa just passed away. I was shocked as I thought his situation is recovering when I went to meet him on Monday. He can even response to what I talk when I recall his memories back in the days when he visits Disney. I called Irene straight away to tell her bout the incident, which shocked her too as she was with me everytime i visit my grandpa.

He was working for a bank, and leads an active lifestyle when he's young. But as his health deteriorates, most probably due to those oily food he loves, he usually only sit at the same chair everyday while waiting for time to crawl by. I remember him telling me he can't get through this year when he hands me an AngPow (red packets) during Chinese New Year. I told my parents but they just ignore me. I've sense some sign that he feel like going to the other side, and only his weirdo grandson will believe him. He died 70+ years old due to a failing lung and heart. I even ask him to go and have a jog after he have recovered, but that wasn't possible as he's not with us now. :(

But instead of crying out and call the day off, I'm surprised I still can keep it calm and plans to pay him my last respect during lunch time. Irene doesn't comfort me, ask she knows that I don't need any comforting. We still joke around pleasantly and get it over like every other day. Not because I want my grandpa dead, but I don't want to see him suffer. I can't tolerate looking at him being poked with needles all over his body, and needing an oxigen tank to continue breathing.

Some people might think that I'm cruel, but I believe they are greedy. Don't you think it's selfish to pay the hospital just to keep a person alive so that you can watch as he/she is suffering on the hospital bed?

Went back during lunch time to pay grandpa my last respect. Bought some flowers for him as well. Might be able to find some tau fa for him later after work (if they still sells it). He looks very peaceful and calm now, instead of struggling to breath, I'll prefer to look at him now. They have helped him changed into shirt and pants and lie him down on the hall.

Just some information for you people...the funeral costs is 5 digits flat. But it comes with packages just like every other thing sold in the market. People now prefer convinience and express process. When there is demand, there will be supply. These smart funeral house even help you to fold those gold coins (yellow paper) which we see ppl burn in chinese movies during funerals. There are also houses, credit cards, cars, and handphones. Yes! Some smart guys folded lookalike items to be sold for this very purpose.

I don't feel a bit of regret as I always treat him good and tell him stories when he's alive. So when he's away, it'll be the duty of others to tell him stories already.

Goodbye Grandpa, hope you find peace in heaven.
