Just got my 1st full salary bank-in to my account this evening. So very happy. Have already been talking about getting a tripod (finally~!) after months and months of dreaming, waiting, researching and budgetting. Most rich photographers would be going for Manfrotto tripods, while other casual photographers make do with those made from plastic.
Fly towards the ATM machine right after work to take out RM 500. That's the maximum I can afford for now, maybe upgrading to a better tripod once I turn pro. For now, I only need something which is sturdy enough, yet light weight so that I can carry around. Not forgetting, I am rather low in cash now, still need to save up for my overseas trip this Raya.
Went to Burmah Road to have a look at the variety of Manfrotto tripods they have. According to the boss, the shop just moved in from some other place. No wonder I never noticed it there eventhough my father's office is nearby. Not only do they sell tripods, but they are the distributor of Cokin filter system. $$$
Nice~! I went in there, search through their filter set, jot down the price and I took a booklet back for reference. I'm the kinda person who will not take out money right when I see something I like. I'll go home, hatch the "want" for a couple of months, until it became a "need" before I swap my card/ pay the cash.
After window shopping, I drove my way to Komtar to get a cheaper tripod which I find good enough to suit my purpose: light weight, sturdy, affordable, able to shoot at low angles, and it does come attached with a spirit level. All this for an affordable RM180 to own this Victory-Brand Made in China Tripod. I got a remote controller for my camera as well as it'll help reduce the minor vibrations even more. All that for a mere RM 220.
With the rest of the money I have in my wallet, I bought some ice cream for my love ones as I can't afford to give them "pocket money" yet with my limited budget. Oh well, I just started working as a fresh grad. Hopefully they will include me in their annual salary increment later this year.

Tried the tripod out once I got back home. The stary sky wasn't really good as I took a 3 minute shot. The earth have already moved hundreds of kilometers at such a long time. Anyway, some still landscape shots did work well like the one above. Well, if there are any photography friends out there...remind me to get a motorized tripod head once I being promoted. I'll show you some nice stary sky once I have that. For now, I'll have to head for bed.
